Yakult Europe and Treedom announce three-year partnership to plant trees

Yakult forest to have 10.000 trees in three years

Almere, February 8^th, 2022 – Yakult Europe starts from 2022 onwards a three-year partnership with Treedom, a global web platform to promote the planting of trees and forests worldwide with the aim of making the planet greener. Within the next three years 10.000 trees will be planted. Contributing to biodiversity and reforestation and at the same time offering social and economic opportunities for local communities fits Yakult’s mission and environmental vision.

Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd., the parent company in Japan, proclaimed last year the Yakult Group Environmental Vision – a guide towards the goal of uniting both “People and Planet as One”, aiming for a value chain with net-zero carbon emissions in 2050. One of the short-term milestones on the path to achieving the sustainability targets in 2030 as set in the Yakult Group Environmental Vision is to preserve biodiversity by supporting and participating in conservation activities and promote biodiversity education. “The partnership with Treedom ticks both boxes.” adds Hiroyasu Matsubara. “We, as part of the Yakult Group, are looking forward to a successful cooperation.”

Treedom allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and follow the story of the project in which it is planted. For full transparency, every tree is geolocated and photographed, with regular updates about the project posted in an online Tree Diary. Each tree has a unique code and can be given as a gift. These characteristics ensure that Treedom trees create a lasting bond between people, allowing companies to take action to protect the environment and the communities that inhabit it.
