Yakult Europe and Treedom announce three-year partnership to plant trees
Yakult forest to have 10.000 trees in three years
Almere, February 8th, 2022 – Yakult Europe starts from 2022 onwards a three-year partnership with Treedom, a global web platform to promote the planting of trees and forests worldwide with the aim of making the planet greener. Within the next three years 10.000 trees will be planted. Contributing to biodiversity and reforestation and at the same time offering social and economic opportunities for local communities fits Yakult’s mission and environmental vision.
Hiroyasu Matsubara, Managing Director of Yakult Europe:
“Our mission is to contribute to the health and happiness of people around the world. For people to be healthy, everything around them must also be healthy. By growing our Yakult Forest, we contribute to biodiversity and reforestation to combat climate change, and the social program of Treedom ensures food security, empowerment and revenue for the people who take care of the trees.”
Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd., the parent company in Japan, proclaimed last year the Yakult Group Environmental Vision – a guide towards the goal of uniting both “People and Planet as One”, aiming for a value chain with net-zero carbon emissions in 2050. One of the short-term milestones on the path to achieving the sustainability targets in 2030 as set in the Yakult Group Environmental Vision is to preserve biodiversity by supporting and participating in conservation activities and promote biodiversity education. “The partnership with Treedom ticks both boxes.” adds Hiroyasu Matsubara. “We, as part of the Yakult Group, are looking forward to a successful cooperation.”
Federico Garcea, Treedom CEO & Founder:
“Treedom’s goal is uniting communities behind a single purpose: to make the planet greener and fairer. An ambition that takes form thanks to the enthusiasm of people and companies, across different countries and cultures. We are happy to inaugurate the collaboration with Yakult Europe. Their commitment to a long-term project will benefit the rural communities involved and all of us.”
Being part of a story
Treedom allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and follow the story of the project in which it is planted. For full transparency, every tree is geolocated and photographed, with regular updates about the project posted in an online Tree Diary. Each tree has a unique code and can be given as a gift. These characteristics ensure that Treedom trees create a lasting bond between people, allowing companies to take action to protect the environment and the communities that inhabit it.

About Treedom S.r.l.
Treedom S.r.l. is the first online platform that allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and follow the story of the project in which it is planted. For full transparency, every tree is geolocated and photographed, with regular updates about the project posted in an online Tree Diary.
Since its foundation in Florence, Italy in 2010, Treedom has planted almost 3 million trees with the support of over 100,000 farmers across 17 countries, including Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala, and Cameroon. The trees bring environmental benefits (offsetting CO2 emissions, supporting biodiversity, combating soil erosion and deforestation), as well as social benefits (training, food security, empowerment and income). Thanks to this innovative social business model, Treedom received Certified B Corporation accreditation, and was welcomed into the network of companies that stand out for their high environmental and social performance.
