Yakult opens European R&D Center in Wageningen
Yakult has officially opened its European Research and Development Center in Wageningen, the Netherlands — its first global R&D facility outside Japan. The centre is part of Yakult Honsha’s global research organisation.

Located on Wageningen Campus, a leading hub for food and life sciences, the centre focuses on microbiology, nutrition and health sciences. Through collaboration with Wageningen University & Research and the wider innovation ecosystem, it aims to strengthen scientific exchange and support the development of new product concepts.
The facility is housed in the Plus Ultra III building, designed to bring together startups, scale-ups and international R&D teams in a shared environment that fosters interaction and collaboration.
The opening ceremony, held on Monday 18 May, brought together Yakult’s global leadership, including President Hiroshi Narita, alongside representatives from academia, government and regional partners. The programme featured speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tours of the new laboratories and facilities.
With this new R&D presence in Europe, Yakult strengthens its global research network and reinforces its commitment to science and innovation in support of improving health worldwide.
