Treedom Cooperation

Creating the Yakult forest with Treedom

As of February  2022, Yakult announced a three year partnership with Treedom to plant 10,000 trees. Treedom is a global platform that’s planting trees and forests worldwide with the specific aim of making the planet greener and fairer.

Yakult’s mission is to contribute to the health and wellbeing of all people around the world – and so the partnership with Treedom is the perfect match. After all, for people to be healthy, everything around them must be healthy too – and so a healthy Earth is vital to us all. In addition to playing our part in contributing to biodiversity and reforestation – Yakult is proud to help offer social and economic opportunities for local communities, as the program ensures food, security, empowerment and revenue for the people who take care of the trees.

Inviting the whole world to be a part of a story

Treedom allows anyone in the world to plant a tree, no matter where they are, and follow the story of the project where their particular tree was planted. To ensure full transparency, every single tree is geolocated and photographed with regular updates about the project posted on an online Tree Diary. Every tree even has a unique code, so it can be given as a gift. Such a connection allows Treedom to create a lasting bond between people. Since its foundation in Florence, Italy in 2010, Treedom has planted almost 3 million trees with the support of over 100,000 farmers across 17 countries, including Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala, and Cameroon. And we’re proud to be playing our part too.

The Yakult Group Environmental Vision is to unite both People and Planet as One, aiming for a value chain with net-zero carbon emissions in 2050.

Treedom also aligns with Yakult’s environmental mission

The Yakult Group Environmental Vision is to unite both People and Planet as One, aiming for a value chain with net-zero carbon emissions in 2050, with mid-term (2030) and short-term (2021-2024) goals. One of the short-term milestones on the path to achieving our sustainability targets in 2030 is to preserve biodiversity by supporting and participating in conservation activities, and promote biodiversity education. And so the partnership with Treedom really is the perfect match.
